Mindful Coaching: Integrating The Wheel of Life

Mindful Coaching: Integrating The Wheel of Life

Have you ever felt that you’re ready to make changes, but not quite sure exactly how or what needs to change?

Perhaps your work is flourishing, but friends and family are not as connected as you’d like to be. Or maybe you are not growing or learning in the way that you’d like. .

You are not alone in this ongoing struggle for increased harmony in life – each area of our life needs to be fine tuned at different points: relationships, career, health, spirituality, finances, and more – like a Stradivarius violin, this tuning is hard to achieve and sometimes seems impossible to sustain.

But we know that aspiring to live our live and dream big helps us to reach for joy, balance and harmony. (see my blog on Dreaming Big)

So, how do you find balance and harmony in your life?

What often holds us back is a lack of mindful, conscious awareness. This is where mindful life coaching comes in.

Mindfulness is aobut being presen in this moment, on purpose and without judgment, according to Jon Kabat-Zinn. He is often considered the grandfather of mindfulness, and offers deep wisdom. He sees mindfulness as a “radical act of wisdom” and shares that in his teachings and meditations: Here is a 5 minute meditation here that you might like.

So Mindful Coaching can help us by focusing on where you are now and where you want to be.

The Wheel of Life is an amazing tool that offers wonderful insight into aspects of your life that are flourishing or struggling. It helps guide you to the changes you want to make and it also removes barriers.

What Is the Wheel of Life?

Sometimes, we might feel stressed or overwhelmed. Perhaps you can’t connect with yourself and balance the essential dimensions of your life – this can leave you feeling out of control and dissatisfied.

To lead a more fulfilling existence and achieve your life goals, we become more mindful of what areas we are going to focus on and then we can regain a sense of calmness and peace.

By using the Wheel of Life, you can have a high level of support to identify areas of your life where you need support and more attention.

How to use the Wheel of LIfe

The Wheel of Life exercise is a powerful coaching tool that offers a practical and flexible tool for you to assess your needs and set goals aligned with your core values.

The wheel of life has eight categories that you can review and map out for yourself.

  • Finances
  • Career
  • Health
  • Friends and Family
  • Significant Other
  • Personal Growth and Spirituality
  • Fun, Leisure and Recreation
  • Environment (home/work)

You “score” each area, using a number from 1-10. Some people like using colours and a map to reflect your level of satisfaction in your life for this area.

Powerful Coaching Tool

The wheel of life is a powerful coaching tool that helps you assess and visualize different areas of your life and become clear on what areas you want to grow and improve.

We use the wheel of life as a visual representation to help you reflect on where you are now, and then we begin to lay out where you want to go. It helps me to know what you want to focus on. We can set specific goals and action plans to make positive changes and increase yout overall well-being.
